“Transformed by the Land, Light & Legend of Taos”

Encore Gallery Exhibition, March 18 through May 29, 2011
Reception for the Artists – Friday, March 18 from 5 to 7 PM

Encore Gallery, Taos Community Auditorium
145 Paseo Del Pueblo Norte, Taos NM

Inspired by the local theme “Be transformed by the land, light and legends of Taos,” The Taos Center for the Arts – Encore Gallery proudly presents a new exhibition of stunning local art. Chosen from an overwhelming submission of the best of Taos art, the “Transformed” exhibit promises to be one of the highlights of the new season in Taos and at the TCA.

The jurors chosen for the daunting task of selecting pieces for the show were local artists Theresa Gray, Patty Day and Dancer Dearing. The theme for this show was open to many interpretations and the response was electrifying if only to see the wealth of the varied artistic submissions.

“Without having a specific Idea of what the show was going to look like we were inspired by the entries that struck us as in some way transformative. Some pieces when viewed created a feeling of inner transformation while others transform with light, color and imagery of our landscape. I wish we had a few more walls in the gallery as there were so many great pieces submitted!” – Dancer Dearing

The show will consist of a wide variety of media, subjects and artistic styles by the following artists:
Jan Dorris, Donna Dufresne, Lenny Foster, Rick Halterman, Laurie Hill Phelps , Petro Hul, Scott Moore,
Shelli Ogilvy, Robert Parker, Robert Pokorney, Pat Pollard, Abby Salsbury, Sandra Seth, April Werner,
Abigail Winston, Raymond Wolf and Judy Van Heyst – a veritable who’s who of working Taos artists.

An opening reception will be held at the Encore Gallery, 145 Paseo del Pueblo Norte, on Friday March 18 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Come and meet the artists and help kick off a glorious spring season with all of us from the Taos Center for the Arts – your hometown arts organization!
