Live in HD’s 2014-2015 Season
The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live transmissions to movie theaters, will feature 10 productions in the 2014-15 season, offering a significant portion of the Met season to opera lovers around the world and at home here in Taos at the Taos Community Auditorium.
Met opera stars serve as hosts for the HD series, conducting live interviews with cast, crew, and production teams, and introducing the popular behind-the-scenes features giving the worldwide HD audience an unprecedented look at what goes into the staging of an opera.
The series opens on October 11 with Verdi’s Macbeth, starring Anna Netrebko, Željko Lu?i?’s doomed Macbeth, for the first time at the Met. Adrian Noble’s chilling production of Verdi’s masterful adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy also stars Joseph Calleja, and René Pape as Fabio Luisi conducts. The season continues with a spirited new production Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, starring Ildar Abdrazakov, Marlis Petersen, Peter Mattei, and Isabel Leonard – conducted by James Levine (October 18); Bizet’s Carmen, with Anita Rachvelishvili, Aleksandrs Antonenko, Ildar Abdrazakov, and Pablo Heras-Casada in Richard Eyre’s production (November 1); Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia starring Isabel Leonard, Lawrence Brownlee, and Christoper Maltman conducted by Michele Mariotti (November 22); Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg conducted by James Levine and starring Johan Reuter, Johan Botha, and Annette Dasch (December 13); Lehar’s The Merry Widow starring Renée Fleming, conducted by Andrew Davis in a new staging by Susan Stroman (January 17); Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann with Vittorio Grigolo, Hibla Gerzmava, Erin Morley, Christine Rice, and Thomas Hampson –conducted by Yves Abel (January 31); Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta/Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle with Anna Netrebko in the title role and Nadja Michaeland Mikhail Petrenko in Bluebeard –both directed by Mariusz Trelinski and conducted by Valery Gergiev (February 14); Rossini’s La Donna del Lago – a Met premiere with Joyce DiDonato and Juan Diego Flórez conducted by Michele Mariotti (March 14); and finally Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and a new production of Loencavallo’s Pagliacci, starring Marcelo Álvarez in both and Eva-Maria Westbroek (Cav) and Patricia Racette (Pag) with Babio Luisi on the podium (April 25).
The Met: Live in HD has been shown at the Taos Community Auditorium for four years to a growing audience of opera aficionados; many who have been listening to opera for years, as well as those who are new to opera and now hooked. The Met’s Live in HD series provides for an intimate experience with the performers. The combined focus on singing, theatrical performance and stage set provides for an experience like none other.
Season passes and individual performance tickets are available beginning August 20th. Season passes are $225 for general admission and $180 for TCA Members. Individual tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for TCA Members and $10 for students 18 and under.
