Drop-off: WED, JAN 14,  2026, 11am–12pm @ Encore Gallery, late works will not be accepted. If you can not drop off at this time, please drop off work in advance to TCA’s office or have a friend drop off in your place. 

TAOS CENTER FOR THE ARTS encourages artists to submit works for the 2026 Members Open exhibition, opening Friday, January 16. 

Artists may submit work in the medium of their choice. 

Please fill out the Artist Agreement Form BEFORE Artwork Drop-Off.

CRITERIA:

  • Works must be 12″ x 12″ exactly, UNFRAMED
  • 2D works on canvas, panel, paper, board—all accepted—no frames. 
  • If the work is 3D, the length, width and depth must all be equal or less than 12” x 12” x 12” in any direction
  • Participating artists must become TCA members or be current TCA members.
  • Drop-off: WED, JAN 14  2025, 11am–12pm at the Encore Gallery
  • Early, late or not completely dry work will not be accepted. 
  • Work must be available for purchase during the exhibit, with a 60/40 Artist/TCA split.
  • Works must be picked up by the artist or someone the artist designates between 11am–12pm on Monday, FEB 16.

CALL FOR ARTISTS: Taos Film Festival Poster Art Competition

ORIGINAL ARTWORK SUBMISSIONS: the festival seeks imagery that captures the ethos and intention of taos film festival (Taosff)— respect for nature & community, resilience, autonomy, authenticity, playfulness­. The winning artwork will create a visual anchor for this year’s inaugural event, and be reproduced as the official limited-edition festival poster. These posters are highly collectible, and the winning artist will be required to sign a limited run of copies prior to the festival for sale to attendees. Regionally based painters, illustrators, mixed-media artists, photographers and students are encouraged to submit their work. No AI images.

FESTIVAL & ARTIST COLLABORATION: artists must not include the festival’s name, dates, or location in their submission. Instead, the winning artwork will be handed off to the festival for graphic design, incorporating Taosff logo, typefaces, colorway, sponsor information, and any other details deemed important. Artists should allow space for inclusion, or understand it may cover part of your artwork.

JUDGING CRITERIA: entries will be judged by the Taosff art committee based on:

  • creativity and originality.
  • visual impact & aesthetic appeal.
  • effective communication of the festival ethos.
  • legibility (how well the image accommodates eventual text) & overall quality.

PRIZE & RECOGNITION: the winning artist will win a pair of all-access passes to the film festival. Additionally, the winner will be honored with a personal introduction prior to a film screening. artists will be recognized with image credit on the poster. framed poster on display throughout the festival in tca’s encore gallery. 

RIGHTS & USAGE: the winning entry becomes the permanent property of the Taosff collection. the festival retains rights to unlimited reproduction and use of the image (or parts thereof) for festival materials, marketing, and products for sale in perpetuity.

ABOUT: Taos Film Festival presents filmmaking voices from all over the world + our own backyard with screenings across Taos, events and parties — a film festival for film lovers, filmmakers and the Taos community. 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES & TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: To ensure high-quality reproduction, all entries must adhere to the following strict standards. AI-generated images are not permitted.

  • artists must live in taos, nm, or within 30 miles of the town of taos. 
  • subject matter: original, appropriate for all ages, and relevant to the Taosff ethos and intent. 
  • orientation: vertical design only.
  • printed poster dimensions: 24″ h x 18″ w. 
  • bleed/crop: chosen artwork may be cropped to accommodate final design. design artwork to accommodate for bleed and crop. 
  • resolution: minimum 300 dpi (high resolution).
  • accepted formats: .eps, .psd, .ai, .tif/.tiff
  • branding: do not add the logo, dates, or text to the image. However, check out the provided color palette and assets (in cfs pdf and on taosff.org) for reference to ensure visual harmony.
