Board and Committee Applications

Taos Center for the Arts is recruiting governance at two levels: Board or Committee. Each level has specific requirements and expectations. 

Serving on TCA’s committees:
TCA has multiple committees dedicated to informing and driving strategic decision making. Committees include Development, Finance, Facilities, Art, Film, Theater, Education, Campus Redesign. Committees meet as needed and are led by a staff and/or board member and work is supported by staff. Crucial work is accomplished on the committee level such as planning fundraising activities, developing strategy for stewardship of TCA’s historic buildings and property, curating film and art programs. Community members are important members of TCA’s committees.

Expectations for committee members: 

  • Attendance at 75% of meetings
  • Monthly time commitment of 2 – 5 hours, depending on current business.  

Serving on TCA Board of Directors:
TCA  focuses on developing a creative committed staff, providing service to community, creating relevant programming with an educational focus, attaining sustainable funding, and building upon relationships. TCA’s Board of Directors plays an important role in working with TCA staff and stakeholders in guiding strategy development, governance of policies and practices, reviewing budgets and financial performance, aligning efforts with strategic plan and mission. 

Expectations for board members:

  • Each director is elected for a term of three (3) years 
  • Meetings are held bi-monthly (6 per year), usually the fourth Tuesday of the month from 4 – 5:30pm in-person at TCA. There is a hybrid option. 
  • Members need to attend at least 5 board meetings each year.
  • Monthly time commitment of 4-10 hours,  depending on current business.  
  • Participation in one or more TCA committee(s).
  • Be or become a member of TCA. 
  • Participate in fundraising efforts. 
  • Be a TCA liaison and recruit members and volunteers from the community.
  • Attend important TCA events when possible. 

Expertise, Interest, and Experience:

TCA is particularly interested in community members with expertise, interest, or background in:

  • Development & Fundraising (including Membership growth strategies)
  • Event Planning
  • Financial management
  • Facilities Management/Construction 
  • Education 
  • Government or Foundation experience
