Last year, TCA awarded a Community Arts Fellowship Last year, TCA awarded a Community Arts Fellowship to ✨UNBOUND @unbound.lineage✨, to support the project's artists in their creative endeavors and engagement with local community in Northern New Mexico.

During the fellowship, Sarah Hōgland-Gurulé @joyinpresence, dancer and artistic director, finished the choreographic, narrative, and logistical elements of the show, held movement workshops, and engaged with the Taos Genízaro community through cultural events and teaching opportunities.

In Sarah's words: “The TCA Community Arts Fellowship was such a gift to me and my artistic process. They provided resources and support that helped me finish a 2-year process of creating a performance ritual about my lineage and ancestral history. Their trust and generosity were invaluable and made me feel confident and excited to share my work with the Taos community.”🌻

Here at TCA, we are grateful for Sarah’s work over the past year. The Genízaro heritage is complex and important to bring to light, and UNBOUND’s performance is a beautiful creation in response to it.

Check out UNBOUND’s process and upcoming performances @unbound.lineage! You can also listen to their reflection on their work/fellowship on TCA’s podcast, Where We Meet, Conversations from New Mexico and Beyond - available on Apple Podcast, Spotify, or our website🎙🎙
