PAINT! Works by Rosalind Rosen and Rhonda Read Turner

PAINT! Works by Rosalind Rosen and Rhonda Read Turner
August 5 - 13, 2017
Location: The Stables Gallery

Paint is a show at The Stables Gallery August 4-13 offering work by two artists who met in a painting class at UNM Taos given by Gary Cook - Rosalind Rosen and Rhonda Read Turner.

Jasper Johns said, "Sometimes I see it and then paint it. Other times I paint it and then see it."

Turner's works in this exhibition arise from a series she calls "Altered States." Each of the pieces appeared to her during meditation and the resulting work attempts to capture the memory of those very vivid patterns and colors and experiences. Turner has been amazed at how vibrant colors can seem when your eyes are closed; she has seen and then painted.

Rosalind Rosen adheres to Johns's latter idea. Her work is always evolving within a process of experimentation - color usually being a continuing dominant element. Drawing on her past of living overseas extensively, she is always open to new experiences whether in fact or on canvas.

An opening reception will be held at The Stables Gallery on Friday, August 4, from 4 to 7 pm.

For more information, call 770-3182 or 776-1536.

These events are planned for TCA’s various venues: the auditorium, Encore Gallery, and Stables Gallery. Most events, but not all, are sponsored by TCA. Submit your TCA event here.
