Taos Center for the Arts Twelfth Annual Quick Draw
Join Us For Taos Artists in Action!
‘Quick Draw and Art Auction’, Sept. 29, 2012 starting at noon
On Saturday, September 29, the 12th annual Quick Draw begins at high noon.
Artists will be creating their work at four different sites in downtown Taos this year. As every year the main site for Quick Draw is in the courtyard of the Stables Gallery. There you can visit with approximately twenty artists including: Mary Barnes, Barbara Barrett, David Borenstein, George Chacon, Conrad Copper, Jessica Gaddis, Katy George, Alan Heuer, Petro Hul, Elizabeth Jose, Huberto Maestas, Beatrice Miera, Mercedes Montoya, Dodi Nelson, Laurie Hill Phelps, RJ Pfammatter, Lloyd Rivera, Sam Richardson, Sally Russell, Hank Saxe, Patty Sheehan, Ron Stock and Thom Wheeler.
Live music at the Stables will be provided by Taos favorites Don Richmond, Chipper Thompson,
Kim Trieber-Thompson and special guest Kirsten Parsons.
A walking map with artists locations will direct you to your next stop, the John Dunn Shops at Bent St. where you can see artists Claudette Barker, Jim Barker, Geraldine Liermann, Judy VanHeyst and Jo Anne Paulk.
Then off to the Blumenchein House to visit Mary Beth Hill, Clarence Medina, Randy Pijoan, Sal Giglio, Dorothy Lampl, Richard Alan Nichols and Jeff Cochran. Peggy Immel and some friends will be painting in the courtyard of the Historical Couse House.
Head back to the Taos Community Auditorium for a wine reception and viewing of the finished pieces at 3:30. Pick up your bidders paddle and join in the fun at the live auction in the Encore Gallery that starts at 4:00 PM. Visitors to Quick Draw get a glimpse at the art process from the beginning, with a chance to bid on the artwork and own the results. This year the auction will also feature the work of our Patron Artists participants: Larry Bell, Conrad Cooper, Alyce Frank, Gus Foster, Lenny Foster, Valerie Graves, Petro Hul,
Ann Huston, Randall LaGro, Bea Mandelman, Paul Pascarella, Louis Ribak, Ed Sandoval, John Suazo, Thom Wheeler and Zoe Zimmerman.
Proceeds from the auction are split between the artists and the TCA to support our programming, so not only do you get a work of art that you have seen in the making, your art purchase helps one of the oldest non-profit organizations in New Mexico provide facilities, programming and education in the visual, performing and media arts in our community.
The Quick Draw and the Quick Draw Auction are free to the public.« Back to Main News Listings
